Our client requires the service of a Farm Manager who will be responsible for the management of livestock and crop planting. The Farm Manager will also be responsible for staff and logistical requirements within the parameters of the business plan.

Key performance areas:

1. Herd Management:

? Monitor the general health and well-being of the herd
? Treat diseases or get the necessary medical help from a veterinarian
? General feed management: inventory, additives and rationing etc.
? Monitor water infrastructure on a weekly basis
? Plan and implement the grazing rotation process
? Manage reproduction practices within the breeding policy
? Consult with reproduction experts regarding breeding guidelines on an annual basis
? General supervision of herd care
? Manage the herd facilities (general maintenance of lambing pens and pens)
? Livestock numbers must be available on a daily basis, but a record statement must be submitted at the end of the month
? Ensure RFID system database is updated at all times within 48 hours after Actions.

2. Crop Production Management:

? Overall supervision of crop production
? Manage all land preparations and plant crops

3. General Management, Maintenance & Vehicles:

? Repairs and maintenance of implements, wires, troughs, wind pumps, roads and pivot points
? Responsible for roadworthiness and maintenance of company vehicles, tractors as well as equipment, regular services of these vehicles as well as checking tire pressure and oil levels.
? Keep necessary diesel records in relation to diesel at pump (all vehicles) as well as keep logs of vehicle on a daily basis.
? Responsible for the cleaning and tidiness of equipment as well as work premises.

4. Administrative and Financial Management:

? Drafting and managing a budget
? Keep track of all transactions (orders, receipts, quotes and invoices)
? Send invoices to office for purchases made on the last day of the month
? Provide summary of record system with regard to orders and deliveries
? Inventory management with regard to feed, medication, means of production and packaging materials

5. Personnel management:

? Record keeping of time sheets and attendance register
? Coordinate compensation of wage workers and temporary workers
? Maintain procedurally fair discipline
? Training and skills development
? Compile, manage and communicate work schedules to staff
? Overtime and leave management

The successful candidate must have:

? Must have matric
? A tertiary qualification in agriculture will be advantageous
? Must have in-depth practical and theoretical knowledge of herd management
? Technical knowledge of machinery and pivot points
? Practical knowledge of distribution and logistics functions
? Must be familiar with different quality control systems and prerequisites
? Must have basic knowledge of financial management
? Practical leadership and management skills
? Well-developed analytical and planning skills
? Good problem-solving and decision-making skills
? Good interpersonal skills
? Must be computer literate
