About the company:

A non-profit company, providing free, comprehensive health services to communities nationwide is recruiting for a Finance Manager.

Duties Include:

1. Financial management and accounting
• Supervision and management of project bookkeeping including cashbook processing and journals
• Ensures the preparation of bank reconciliations and reviews
• Reconciles all project and statutory accounts and corrects incorrect entries
• Ensures accuracy and completeness of all project revenue and expenses
• Ad hoc invoicing of partners for services rendered
• Ensures reconciliation of creditors and reviews
• Ensures the capturing of petty-cash transactions to ledger and reviews data for accuracy and completeness
• Provides oversight and compliance on project debit cards, staff debtors and expense claims
• Ensures that loan accounts are reconciled
• Ensures suspense accounts are reviewed and cleared
• Ensures that theoretical cash reconciliations are completed Prepares ad hoc reports, reconciliations and analysis as required
• Ensures that the finance team meet all month end deadlines set
• Provides financial management support to program managers
• Provides assistance to departments for finance related activities as and when necessary (e.g. procurement, travel and logistics etc.)
• Ensures the accurate financial capturing and reporting of all sub-partner expenses
• Reviews and releases of electronic payments and transfers
• Overall responsibility of the trial balance, as allocated

2. Auditing and compliance
• Accurately accounts for VAT, completes and submits SARS returns
• Prepares schedules and ensures payment of employees tax and UIF
• Complete income tax submissions to SARS
• Assists with the preparation and execution of all audits (funder and statutory audits)

3. Cash flow management
• Oversees drawdowns/request for disbursement for salaries and expenses
• Assists with cash-flow management
• Ensures loan account and inter account transfers are done

4. Reporting and budgeting
• Ensures all monthly expense claims and financial reporting are prepared and submitted to funders on time
• Ensures quality of financial reporting by implementing review processes for validity, accuracy and completeness
• Provides insight to senior management, board and external parties through review of financial reporting for projects
• Ensures that all reports are reconciled to the underlying financial system
• Reviews and interprets monthly management accounts
• Prepare and review budgets for specific funders or for the organisation

5. Administration
• Oversees the filing system for retention of manual and electronic records

6. Stakeholder management
• Maintains and builds relationships with external stakeholders (funders, government, auditors)
• Maintains and build relationships with internal stakeholders (programme staff, other support units, field staff, board)

7. People management
• Ensure timeous and competent recruitment and adequate training of team members
• Ensure high level plans are communicated and assigned to team members, with appropriate follow up
• Engage in the performance review process and provide performance feedback
• Ensure that team members are managed proactively to ensure that quality standards are met
• Ensure timeous resolution by the team to any people challenges raised internally or externally

Requirements:

• B.Com honours degree; at least 7 years experience; or CA(SA) with 2 years post articles experience; or equivalent combination of education
and experience
• Experience within the non-profit sector and with exposure to CDC/Global Fund/USAID financial management will be highly advantageous
• Extensive knowledge and experience in finance, accounting, reconciliations and budgeting
• Ability to work in a project environment
• Willing to work a flexible schedule and be deadline focused
• Advanced level proficiency in Microsoft packages
• Clear credit record
• Clear criminal record
• Ability to communicate in English and Afrikaans / isiXhosa
• Valid driver’s license
