Qualifications
o Minimum BComm Accounting
o Articles would be preferable
o Minimum 3 Years commercial experience (Property Industry would be an advantage but not deal breaker
o MDA Property System wouldn’t hurt
o Able to multitask across portfolios and several reporting structures
o Deadline driven

Responsibilities:
1. Effective utilization of the software systems (MDA/ Pastel)
2. Understanding of the financial requirements of the properties within the portfolio
3. Understanding of the Income Tax Act applicable to the properties within the portfolio
4. Understanding the Value Added Tax Act as applicable to the properties within the portfolio
5. Efficient financial management and reporting including accurate budgets, books of account, financial statement preparation and statutory compliance applied in a time efficient and accurate manner

1. Review/Analysis:
o Review of monthly Balance Sheet and Income Statement account reconciliations for Audit File
o Review of monthly Payovers prepared by Cashbook Clerk before the 7th, 15th and 20th of each month
o Retail Specific: Review of monthly financials before being sent to Retail teams for preparation of Packs
o Review of monthly VAT Reconciliations before submission on eFiling
o Review of intercompany recoveries (eg. Property Management Fees) to ensure correctness thereof
o Weekly review of Utilities Master Schedule to ensure payments are up to date and no discrepancies
o Spot check/review of Payments before being verified on Online Banking
o Review of all journals, including JV journals, prepared by the junior staff
o Review of Turnover Calculations

2. Reporting:
o Preparation and presentation of Annual Financial Statements

3. Ad hoc
o Handling of financial queries
o Monitoring of internal control procedures to ensure Company procedures are being adhered to
o Ensure all appropriate accounting standards/principles are being adhered to
o Loading of suppliers on MDA and verifying same on Online Banking
o Importing Budgets into MDA
o Provide adequate training and support to junior staff within finance team
o Preparation of Adjustment Accounts
o Assisting with Audits and Audit queries
o Liaising with Internal Auditors
o Calculation and submission of provisional and annual income tax
o Ensure adequate filing system is in place
o Relevant ad hoc tasks as and when they arise
