AVAILABLE POSTION : FUNDRAISER - LAPALALA WILDERNESS SCHOOL

The successful applicant will report directly to the Chairman of the Board. The scope of the role includes preparing and submitting proposal-based fundraising, managing existing donor relationships, and building new ones, developing and managing the LWS legacy programme, and initiating and building new options for raising funds for the LWS.

Responsibilities:

* Support the LWS Director and Board members in implementing the current fundraising approaches, actively seek new donors (including individuals, corporates, Trusts and Foundations, aid agencies and embassies).
* Develop a sustainable fundraising strategy for approval by the Board, with emphasis on new options for raising funds and the development of an endowment fund for the LWS.
* Promote and assist with the implementation of the LWS legacy programme.
* Reach and exceed an annual fundraising target.
* Submit monthly progress reports and attend relevant meetings.
* Develop relationships with the media to promote an awareness of the funding options for the LWS, and when requested by the Director prepare material for the LWS Newsletter.
* Researching donors to match criteria and area of operation
* Submitting funding applications with all the required documentation & budgets
* Inviting potential donors and taking them and visitors on tours of LSW
* Working with LWS Director on implementing new fundraising ideas and campaigns.
* Keeping donor list up to date, thanking and following up donors with required documentation.
* Regular reporting schedule to be kept and followed up.

Requirements:

* At least five years relevant experience, with an exceptional communication ability, both spoken and written.
* Previous NPO fundraising work experience essential
* Experience with researching and approaching new potential donors
* High standard of fundraising proposal-writing skills
* Understanding of using budgets in fundraising proposals
* Be a natural networker and able to build relationships
* Accuracy, attention to detail and highly organised
* Self-motivation and ability to work independently to agreed deliverables.
* Computer literacy essential, experience with managing a fundraising CRM database will be advantageous
* Valid driver’s license and own transport, and willingness to accompany major donors on visits to the LWS.
