General Manager – Built Environment

Location: Pietermaritzburg, KZN
Salary: R40k per month plus benefits

About the Role:
Opportunity available for a General Manager for a client whose primary function is to support low income communities in accessing land, basic services and housing. They undertake donor-funded and consulting work in project management, training, process facilitation, and advocacy-based research.

Requirements:
Relevant tertiary qualification
Have at least 7 years’ management experience, preferably in the Non-Profit sector
Have a strong sense of ethics and commitment to social justice
Have excellent communication, report-writing, budgeting and financial management skills
Be able to analyse and navigate politics in the KwaZulu-Natal context
Be able to manage diverse multi-disciplinary teams
Code EB driving license

Duties:
Be responsible overall for operational planning, budgeting, delivering on contractual commitments, and financial and human resource management;
Establish and maintain clear lines of reporting and responsibility between our Board of Directors, outsourced finance team, funders and clients;
Motivate and manage a small complement of in-house staff and an outsourced finance team; Project and manage the agreed profile of the organisation, and build and maintain effective stakeholder relations;
Diversify and grow our funding base to achieve long term sustainability.
