General Manager / COO – Foods Retail (Harare, Zimbabwe)

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an individual with a diverse set of leadership skills to manage our clients chain of food retail stores. Our client prides themselves on customer service and the quality products that they provide on a day to day business. Their market segment is strong and has ample room for growth and development.

They require a commercial and resilient individual who can act as an entrepreneur within a larger structure. You will be tasked with building and inspiring high-performing teams of unique individuals who deliver positive experiences for customers as they shop and get support. You will report directly to the CEO.


Key Qualifications
• Degree/Diploma in Finance / Business / Entrepreneurship or Management
• MBA would be an advantage
• Proven ability to drive amazing customer experiences - and results - through team development.
• Experience with diplomatically managing multiple commitments to customers, staff, and operations.
• Ability to adapt to challenges while remaining calm in a constantly changing retail environment.
• Must have operational understanding of IT and Accounting systems

Additional Requirements
• You have demonstrated leadership ability with at least 10 years of experience in the Retail space (preferably Food Retail sector) working for an established Retail Chain.
• Must have at least 5 years experience in a senior management role overseeing or being involved with Operations
• Strong leadership skills with hands-on capability and management style.
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Leadership and motivational skills
• Be commercially aware and possess in depth experience of working towards KPIs
• Ability to plan, prioritise and cope under pressure
