Our client, in the agricultural industry, requires the service of a General Manager who will be responsible for growth of business and implementing further infrastructure development as per the business plan.

Key performance areas:

? Oversee and manage operations following international best practice.
? Execute the successful outgrowing and hardening – off of plant material for distribution.
? Develop local/ international networks for optimal acquisition of material for growth of business.
? Develop and commission a quarantine facility to ensure virus elimination and multiplication of plant material.
? Identify government policies, strategies and incentives applicable to the sector and optimize access for beneficiaries.
? Ensure compliance with all related protocols and regulations involved in managing the entity/ business.
? Monitor performance and development improvement plans for existing projects.
? Take responsibility and accountability of all aspects relating to operational management and execution of strategic/business plan.
? Develop, coordinate, manage and execute the production and marketing programme.
? Manage day to day administration task.
? Oversee the provision of site services as required.
? Building and managing stakeholder relations.

The successful candidate must have:

? Matric with Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture or related degree in agriculture.
? Production and business development experience in the agricultural sector.
? At least 5 - 8 years proven experience in operational and middle management positions.
? In-depth industry and plant material knowledge with and understanding of micro propagation techniques, will be advantageous.
? Entrepreneurial and Interpersonal skills with the ability to influence others.
? Must be Self – motivated with a “get it done” attitude.
? Knowledge and experience in organisation effectiveness and operations management.
? Ability to develop and lead technical and production team.
? Ability to see the bigger picture and look at situations from different viewpoints.
? Excellent planning and organizational / coordination skills.
? Must be computer literate (MS Office) Superior Strategy, Financial and Analytical skills.
? Strong Leadership capabilities.
? Negotiation skills
