Your Main Responsibilities
? Finding new business opportunities in Africa for the Client (Cobalt Hydroxide, Copper Cathodes and Copper Concentrates, others). Promoting the business and reputation in the region. Focus on developing relationships with mining companies and producers in the African region.
? Maintaining strong relationships with existing suppliers and service providers and seeking to expand business profitably
? Building a strong relationship with the global offices, especially Shanghai, Singapore and Geneva and being a reliable contact person for all SAF related commercial topics
? Logistics coordination/management in the region
? First point of contact for the senior management and commercial staff from within and for other Chinese-owned/speaking mining operations and producers in the African region
? A significant responsibility is to manage the coordination with the client and assumes a larger role in all outbound product movements as the main logistics provider.
? Ensuring internal is coordinating with client site logistics for timely movement of end product at mine gate sales or other sales locations
? Help resolve complex logistics issues related to the import and export of materials, including but not limited to: Ensuring proper documentation is obtain, customs inspections occur, regulatory compliance, tax issues are communicated and addressed.
? Quality and weight claim management between African producers and client’s customers (via other offices), managing claims client might receive from customers with the mine for copper cathodes and cobalt hydroxide, ensuring that claims, which are passed on by sales offices have been thoroughly checked and that the protocol has been followed
? Ensure contracts are entered into the front office IT system correctly in a timely manner
? Support the concentrate trader on all commercial and trading related activities
? Ensure physical movement of goods happens in a timely, cost effective manner
? Ensure efficient allocation of material within contractual terms
? Communicate effectively with internal and external counterparties to achieve successful resolution to any issues
? Assist Managers/Senior Traders as workloads demand with escalations and training
? Be aware of significant issues within the contracts handled including: Aged stock, Hedging/Pricing, Exposures, Compliance and works on solving those issues
? Provide data and market/industry information to client market analysts to help build accurate supply/demand balance sheets and a more complete understanding of visible and invisible inventories, and market dynamics
? Keep the global teams informed of market rumours of who is doing what, particularly in relation to stock moves, mining activities, competitors’ activities in the region etc.

Your Profile
? Bachelor’s degree (minimum)
? Ideally 2-3 years’ experience in physical commodity trading either on refined copper, concentrates or cobalt Hydroxide
? Ideally 1-2 years’ experience in a traffic, logistics or similar role within the metals/mining or commodities industry

Your technical skills
? Excellent knowledge of the products and the region a plus
? Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and Chinese essential
? Strong numerical and IT literacy including Microsoft Office products and commodities front office systems
? Ability to be flexible, work to deadlines and under pressure
? Regular travel may be required if business dictates
? Fluency in English and Chinese
