The role reports to the Senior Group Treasury Manager.

• Deliver on strategic treasury projects and investigations; some examples include:
o Optimizing treasury and cash management structures across segments, the group and across regulatory frameworks;
o Supporting on the debt capital programmes, debt issuances, investor road shows, coupon payments and credit rating agency requirements;
o Dividend management, accessible capital calculations and forecast and execution of dividend payments;
o Reporting and execution of intragroup transactions and ensuring the supporting governance requirements are met;
o Producing the group capital plan, monitoring that the group capital and cash levels to optimal levels of efficiency;
o Setting entity specific group targets in line with internal management frameworks;
o Implementing capital efficient corporate actions (e.g. dividends, debt issuance);
o Analyzing commercial aspects of capital investments, and new and existing products;
o Driving treasury initiatives at a segment level to meet group targets;
o Driving internal and external cash management reporting projects.

• In the process of these projects, responsibilities could include:
o Developing suitable treasury and cash management structures;
o Quantitative modelling and analyzing of key financial/risk metrics;
o Working with legal and tax to ensure compliance;
o Facilitating stakeholder dialogue;
o Negotiating commercial terms;
o Communicating to senior management.
• Monitor and engage with subsidiaries on current and future cash and capital positions;
• Assist group treasury in identifying strategic and commercial opportunities across the Group’
• Report on treasury initiatives to internal and external stakeholders;
o Support the management of internal funding and the allocation thereof including operational tasks relating to affecting funding transfers and strategic focus areas related to the matching of future funding sources and off-takers.

• Essential: Relevant post-graduate degree (e.g. CA, Finance, Banking, Actuarial)
o Additional professional qualification (e.g. SAICA, FASSA, CFA) an advantage
• 6+ years’ balance sheet management, treasury, capital and/or life insurance experience within an insurance or banking entity with a specific focus on capital management, funding management, cash optimization, liquidity and group treasury activities
• Ability to work with light-touch supervision on projects or tasks, as agreed with the senior treasury manager.
• Strong communication skills including an ability to explain complex concepts and key issues effectively with the broader team.
• Capacity to take accountability for complex and potentially ambiguous pieces of work.
• Dynamically respond to work requirements and changing situations.
• Pragmatic, and solution-focused; able to make trade-offs balancing between deliveries, and risks/costs.
• Must possess a wide range of skills and knowledge, including an actuarial background, quantitative finance, corporate finance, deal planning, regulations and commercial acumen.
• Track-record of being able to work efficiently with seniors and subordinates, teams in and out of the organization, and consultants to ensure delivery.
