The Commercial division of Sovereign is looking for an individual to assume the responsibilities of HSE Officer, based in the Gauteng Operations. The successful incumbent will report directly to the Risk Manager. The HSE Officer will be responsible for identifying, monitoring, and mitigating all health, safety, and environmental risks at the Hartbeespoort Abattoir. The ideal candidate must be in possession of Health and Safety Management National Diploma or relevant qualification and 4-5 years’ experience. A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a FMCG environment is essential. This position carries a TASK grade of T11.

Results required:
• Maintain the agreed-upon live system where all incidents are reported and recorded within the same shift.
• Implement a system to identify and rectify unsafe acts and unsafe conditions.
• Identify the root cause of all injuries and partner with area managers to eliminate or reduce recurrences.
• Ensure that waste disposal systems are complied with.
• Measure compliance to SHE legislation, internal standards.
• Implement and maintain a corrective action initiation and follow up system.
• Maintain the contractor control and permit to work system.
• Maintain the NOSA management system at processing plant.
