HR Officer - Manufacturing | Port Elizabeth
Salary: R25-30k+ Per Month

Purpose of Position:

Complement Recruitment are recruiting for a Human Resources (HR) Officer for a manufacturing plant in Port Elizabeth. The purpose of the position is to build and maintain relationships - honest, open, trustworthy and friendly with staff and customers where necessary. Promote team work - co-operative, supportive and lookout for the good of the team, as opposed to individual desires. Stay abreast of any Legislative or other changes in relation to your position responsibilities and ensure the correct application thereof at all times. Contribute to an Inclusive environment where everyone is encouraged to Learn, Grow and Develop. This is a permanent position reporting to the National HR Manager.

Minimum Requirements:

• Matric Degree in Human Resources or related qualifications (essential)
• Strong IR (Industrial Relations) background
• At least 5 years’ experience as an HR Officer (essential)
• Well experienced in conflict management in the work place
• Must be able to work independently
• Support Manager in a constructive manner, ensuring that the internal department relationships are properly maintained.
• Personally manage work efficiently and effectively
• Exposure to Labour Law and employment equity regulations.
• Effective HR administration and people management skills.
• Exposure to payroll practices.
• Full understanding of HR functions and best practices.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Works well under pressure and meets tight deadlines.
• Highly computer literate with capability in email, MS Office, SAP, related business communication tools.
• Fantastic organizational, time management and Priority Setting skills.
• Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
• Meticulous attention to detail

Duties, Responsibilities And Accountabilities
Key Performance Areas (KPA's)

Training And Development, Talent Optimization

• Developing a training plan as per plant requirements
• Compile a Multi Skilling Programme
• Ensure MERSETA Grant submissions are submitted as per deadline from MERSETA, WSP and ATR
• Human Resources Administration
• Ensure all HR systems are attended to and up to date, capturing on ESS and ERS
• Ensure all HR Job Descriptions Correspond with Organisational Structures
• Ensure Employee Personal Files are updated
• Ensure Employee Training Files are updated
• Provide support to employees in various HR-related topics such as leaves and compensation and resolve any issues that may arise. Enhance job satisfaction by resolving issues promptly and organize team building activities
• Gather and analyse data with useful HR metrics, i.e. time to hire and employee turnover rates & attendance etc.
• Timeous and accurate documentation submission to the payroll department as per the HR calendar
• Compile HR Budget for the business (Training, legal, EWP)
• Produce and submit reports on HR activities

Performance Management

• Implementation of performance management for all employees as per the company guidelines
• Undertake tasks around performance management
• Organize bi-annual and annual employee performance reviews

Recruitment & Selection

• Compliance with the company’s recruitment policy
• Cost effective recruitment strategy by seeking the most cost effective way of recruitment cost
• Improve quality of the candidates

Labour Relations

• Coordinate approved Employee Wellness Programmes
• Coordinate approved Team Building Initiatives
• Ensure correct Disciplinary procedures are followed
• Attend to disciplinary, incapacity and grievance hearings
• Provide Sound Labour Relations advice and Support to Management
• Prepare cases for Conciliation and Arbitration at CCMA/DRC
• Representation of the Company at Conciliations and Arbitrations
• Compile/Formulate all Warning Forms
• Promote HR programs to create an efficient and conflict-free workplace
• Create Awareness on Absenteeism
• Compliance with Employment Equity Act for the organisation, including arrangements of meetings as well as EE plan for the plant as per instruction and guidance from the EE Manager
• Compliance with all HR related legislation
• Compile a new Induction Programme for new recruits as well as a new induction for Refreshers
