Our client is an international non-profit school with a single mission: to break the cycle of poverty. Poverty touches every aspect of a child’s life, determines their future and almost always leave them trapped in a spiral of unemployment and continued poverty. They offer no-fee scholarships to students from some of the poorest neighbourhoods and supports them for 18 years with a fully serviced, holistic education of the best quality while following national regulations and being oriented to achieving educational goals.
They operate eight Grade R-12 schools around the world of which the centre in Cape Town, established in 2002 is the only centre in Africa. The centre currently serves twenty communities in Cape Town.
As part of their holistic 18-year offering, they instill strong character development ethics, complemented by professional health care, nutritious meals, psychosocial counselling, family assistance and college and careers planning and support (up until five years after graduating).
About the position:
Our client seeks to employ an ICT Educator Champion on a one-year contract basis. Reporting to the High School and Junior School principals. The use of and access to technology is a critical component of the school’s educational model. Their aim is to provide learners with an active, engaging learning environment that is technology-driven, student-centered and geared towards the 2030 workplace.
Responsibilities:
• Lead the overall development and implementation of the school’s ICT blended-learning curriculum by conducting research into best practices in the sector, staying abreast of the latest solutions in the ICT education space, engaging industry experts, and building relevant partnerships
• Develop and ensure delivery of all cloud-based learning software
• Develop and oversee coding curriculum across Junior and High School and assist robotics program
• Project manage, develop and maintain implementation of the new Learning Management System (LMS) and the new Student Information System (SIS)
• Ensure staff and teachers receive regular training on LMS, SIS, Microsoft and all educational software
• Work alongside the IT department (tech support) on day-to-day as well as long term ICT projects.
Requirements:
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Computer Science / Information Technology, additional certification (Microsoft, programming etc.) advantageous
• Experienced in an educational environment, capable to research, implement and advise on IT-enabled education solutions (Grade R – 12)
• Minimum 5 years related experience.
• Valid driver’s license
• Fluency in written and spoken English essential; fluency in additional language(s) advantageous.
