The Infection Control/health and safety Coordinator will be responsible to plan, develop and implement an infection control and health and safety program for the hospital using infection/health and safety control standards and international best practice.

We are looking for a dynamic individual to fill this role, who is fully capable to undertake the IPC matters given this large institution.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Aid and assist all hospital employees in managing the prevention, identification and control of infections/safety issues in patients and employees
- Plan, develop and implement an infection control/safety program in keeping with the updated control standards
- Notify the Department of Health timeously of diseases where applicable and relevant Department regarding safety issues where applicable
- Organize regular infection control and health and safety committee meetings and document the proceedings
- Maintain an up to date infection control that is available and accessible to all nursing and house-keeping staff
- Conduct audits/ risk audits and action infection control and health and safety critical non-conformances and non-conformances

REQUIREMENTS:
• A relevant nursing qualification in Infection control (1year Diploma) or 6 months Infection Control certificate essential
• At least 3-5 years hospital experience in an Infection control/Health and safety post essential
• Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse
• Compliance with the SANC code for a Registered Nurse and all applicable health care legislations
• Experience of Bluebird system is essential
• Compulsory BLS certification (up to date)
• Advanced Computer Literacy
