Our client, a leading Gold Mining Group, is looking for an experienced and qualified Instrument Technician at South Deep Mine near Westonaria to the West of Johannesburg.

Job Purpose:
Responsible for executing specialized technical functions to optimize mining processes with prescribed guidelines, policies and procedures to support the operation to achieve its objectives and goals.

The appointee should:
Be in possession of a National Diploma in Electrical light current or be in possession of National N Diploma with an Instrument Mechanician Trade Test Certificate.
Have at least 5 years’ experience of which 2 years is in the installation and maintenance of process control equipment.
Have a sound knowledge of Allen-Bradley Rockwell Automation and FactoryTalk SCADA Packages.
Be able to work within time constraints and show the ability to make sound decisions.
Have experience in Hard Rock Mining, Shaft and TM3 maintenance.
Have the ability to correctly apply best installation practices from Mechanical, Electrical and Instrumentation perspective on all types of fields Instruments.
Make recommendations on equipment and system improvements, which contribute to improve system performance.
Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the
Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre.

Advantageous requirements:
Have B-Tech in Electrical light current.
Have advanced process control experience.
Have experience with trackless machinery and remote controls (RCT and HBC).
Have experience with NewTrax System on trackless machinery.

Key responsibilities:
Communication between different levels of customers, both Peers and Subordinates.
Be a leader for team members and ensure the Health and Safety are within MHSA regulations.
Drive Gold Fields values, safety initiative, standard and incident management always.
Ensure all procedures, standards and risk assessments for daily tasks are in place and adhere all too.
The incumbent / employee will be required to actively take part in our Visible Felt Leadership programme
The incumbent / employee will be responsible for budget control within his/her area of responsibility
Liaise with suppliers, auditors, service and production departments
Adhere to planned maintenance schedule and eliminate unplanned tasks.
Plan and structure tasks to achieve long and short-term targets.
Maintain the safe operation of equipment, systems and processes in his/her area of responsibility
Train, coach and develop all team members according to IDP which must be instrumentation related
Responsible for C&I, Networks, Seismic, Fire Detection, Time and Attendance, Leaky Feeder, Telephones, Central blasting, Cameras, TM3 machinery and equipment (NewTrax, Tele-remote etc.)
