An authorised financial service provider, operating within the long-term insurance industry in South Africa, requires the services of an Claims Administration Officer. The permanent position is based in Bellville Cape Town.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the day to day management of a specialist team within the Claims Department, to ensure optimal functioning within the department to achieve Service Level Agreement (i.e. all processes, turnaround times, Rules and Regulations in accordance with the Long Term Insurance Act) requirements and deliver customer service of the highest quality.

Responsibilities include:

Aside from assisting with queries and helping with the workload, the candidate’s main focus will be on the following:

• Manage the day to day performance of a specialist team within the Claims Department
• Guide the team in terms of the validity of (boarder case) claims
• Manage and ensure the even distribution of the daily workload
• Manage and measure turnaround times according to Service Level Agreements
• Provide training to new and existing team members
• Manage daily operational tasks i.e. unresolved queries and escalations
• Make suggestions to management with regards to process improvements
• Assist the Administration Manager with resource allocation within the team
• Take accountability for the claims team’s actions
• Assess the team moral and provide feedback to the Administration Manager
• Ensure a positive attitude within the team
• Stay up to date with new legislation
• Ensure treating customers fairly (TCF) principles are applied in the assessment of all claims
• Embed a risk culture within the department

Experience and Qualifications:

• At least 3 years’ experience in a similar role of with 2 being in a leadership role
• Diploma in Business administration will be an advantage
• Experience within the medical claim's environment will be an advantage
