Snapplify is an edtech company, specialising in the enablement of digital learning by establishing a marketplace for digital education content, related educational services, and devices.
We are the largest ebook aggregator and distributor in Africa with an ebook offering of over 240 000 titles from over 250 publishers. We work with over 1000 schools across Africa, offering them digital education tools.
Apart from being an award-winning hardware distribution solution for ebooks we have also won multiple awards for technical innovations in digital distribution for the emerging market classroom. Since then we’ve expanded into Africa, Europe and the United States, with offices across South Africa, as well as in Nairobi, Amsterdam and New Jersey.

What are we looking for?
We are expanding our development team and we are looking to add a talented JavaScript Front End Developer to our team to design and build the next generation of digital applications by developing and maintaining web-based applications.

What will my day-to-day key responsibilities be?
Design, build and maintain reader based platforms of the Snapplify product.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
Unit-Test all codes for robustness, including edge cases, usability, and general reliability.
Bug fixing and improving application performance.
Continuously discover, evaluate, and implement new technologies to maximize development efficiency.
Adhere to company product methodology and processes (Agile/SCRUM).
Contribute to company product architecture.
Produce quality code under the guidance of the Lead Developer.
Taking part in any training and development opportunities the company provides.
Staying up to date and implement critical changes to the development technologies used by the Company.

Qualifications
Diploma/Degree in Software Development or similar
Skills/Knowledge required
5 years of overall development experience
HTML and CSS (Standard LESS, SCSS or has knowledge of compiled CSS)
3 years of JavaScript
Ability to problem-solve
Basic IT hardware/software skills
Good people skills
Strong written and verbal communication
Good attention to detail
Working with remote data via REST and JSON
Building HTML/CSS components
, NPM and build scripts
Transpiled JavaScript (Babel etc)
Source control
Command line usage
Using REST API interfaces
Grunt or similar
,Electron or similar
framework
or similar
TypeScript or other transpiled JS
