Job Title: Junior Editor and Translator

Purpose statement As part of our Marketing Division, the Junior Editor and Translator will work closely with the Marketing Manager and Content Specialist of Efficient Group to edit, proofread, translate and publish all content for the Group and its subsidiaries.Reports to:
Marketing Manager

Job objective
The role of the Junior Editor and Translator is to support the content specialist in developing and finalising all communications relating to media relations and general communications and maintain a positive brand image. Editing and translating of required documents usually happen on very tight deadlines and the editor will need to help develop and follow a company editorial style guide. Excelling spelling and understanding of grammar, in both English and Afrikaans, are essential to the role. The Editor will support the entire marketing team where necessary.

Duties
Processes
- Manage content and update content for company websites as instructed by content specialist.
- Editing and translating of case studies, speeches, articles, annual reports, flyers, newsletters, brochures and any other marketing material
where necessary.
- Adhere to deadlines.
- Proofread, edit and translate newsletters before publication.
- Ensure all-around consistency (style, fonts, images and tone).
- Consistently brainstorming and collaborating with rest of the team for new ideas and strategies.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills to ensure that all documents are communicated clearly.

People
- Communicate with others in ways that are clear, concise and understandable
- Successfully work with a wide range of people at varying levels of organisation.
- Initiate and develop business relationships in a positive way.

Job Evaluation
Formal Education:
Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communication Science or related field.
Experience: Minimum 1-year experience

Additional:
- Business communication skills enabling verbal and written communication, in English and Afrikaans, at all levels.
- Basic layout understanding.
- Proficiency in relevant software applications – MS Office, PowerPoint, InDesign.
