SUMMARY

Manganese Metal Company (“MMC”), based in Mbombela (Nelspruit, Mpumalanga Province), is the world’s largest producer of 99.9% electrolytic manganese metal (“EMM”). The company has been in operation since 1974, has a unique global marketing network and is a niche market supplier of EMM to an established international customer base.
We supply more than 120 customers in over 20 countries and our systems, equipment, safe operating philosophy and excellent business practices provide our customers with peace of mind, first-class quality and reliable supply. Our products are used in the top-end of the market, in the aluminium, steel, non-ferrous alloys, rechargeable lithium-ion batteries, chemicals and welding consumable industries.
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The job incumbent will be responsible for safely preparing and conducting analytical tests on raw and in-process materials, final product and environmental samples according to procedure

BACKGROUND INFORMATION REGARDING THE OPPORTUNITY
The job incumbent will be part of the Wet and Metal Laboratory team that delivers accurate and timely analyses for the customer. The laboratory serves multiple customers including production, environmental stakeholders, as well as final product customers.

At MMC, the Laboratory Analysts perform analytical chemistry analyses and report on raw material, process control, final product and environmental samples. The value-add activities are done according to standard operating procedures.

The job incumbent’s role is a key function to this team, as the person will be responsible for generating accurate analyses that are used for decision-making within the company that could impact production outcomes. The role includes weekend and public holiday work. Senior analysts have the opportunity to gain experience by acting for supervisors as need arises.

• Adhere to internal Service Level Agreements (SLA’s)
• Perform administrative functions according to set procedures
• Ensure proper housekeeping Provide own accommodation and transport for the entire duration of the training period.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Matric with Maths and Science
• 1 year Laboratory experience in a production or manufacturing environment.
• Computer literacy (basic)
