A company, specializing in Leather products, requires the skills and experience of a Leather Technologist (permanent position). The position is based in the North-West area of Pretoria.

Duties and responsibilities:
• Co-ordinate trials and samples from Pilot Tannery through to production
• Operate equipment in the Pilot Tannery to achieve required results
• Monitor and Evaluate trials and samples in consultation with department heads and in line with job cards and recipes
• Stop any trial if the success is questionable
• Check the general quality of production and samples as they move through the system and report any problems to the department head
• Provide feedback and reports to relevant stakeholders
• Ensure the pilot tannery adheres to a high standard of housekeeping and cleanliness
• Ensure equipment is maintained to the required standard of operation
• Ensure the administrative aspects of this job are up to standard
• Comply with the requirements of the OHSAct and procedures of the SHEQ management systems as applicable to this position
• Perform any other duties regarding design and development appointed from time to time as deemed necessary by department

Requirements
• Matric / Grade 12 (or equivalent)
• Leather Technology Qualification
• 5 years’ experience in the leather manufacturing environment, preferably R & D
