A Johannesburg based Group of companies has an exciting vacancy for a suitably experienced and qualified LEGAL & COMPLIANCE MANAGER.

This role will be responsible for overseeing the group compliance and legal function. Ideally suited to an Admitted Attorney who has well-rounded corporate commercial experience and good knowledge of compliance risk management.

Responsibilities
• Conducting audits efficiently and effectively in accordance with the audit plan to identify and report significant legal control weaknesses within the Group. This includes audit planning, preparation, execution and reporting.
• Identifying, recommending and implementing operational improvements to legal and compliance review processes.
• Identifying emerging compliance trends, including related regulatory and policy issues that may impact on the Group’s business. Making recommendations and devising an engagement strategy.
• Prioritize and analyze laws and regulations applicable to the Group companies.
• Drafting and vetting of legal agreements.
• Reviewing contracts before inception and renewal in order to ensure their legal accuracy.
• Effectively deal with both written and verbal correspondence that have a legal bearing on the Company.
• Litigation and advisory.

Qualifications and Experience
• LLB or similar qualification
• Admitted Attorney
• Compliance risk management qualification or experience will be beneficial
• Minimum of 3 years post admission experience or legal and compliance experience
• Sound knowledge of Company Law (i.e. The Competition Act, Companies Act, global data protection and anti-bribery and anti-corruption laws), general legislation and legal processes
• Good communication (written and verbal), networking and influencing skills
• Discretion when handling confidential information
• Keen eye for detail
