Job Description:

Interviewing, engaging, training, planning assigning, and directing the activities of other corporate counsels as designated from time to time by the Legal Director – South Africa, outside counsel and independent contractors based upon project assignment, appraising the performance of outside counsel and independent contractors, and addressing complaints and resolving problems regarding outside counsel and independent contractors.
Real estate knowledge, including:
Analyze property title and related property documentation.
Prepare various risk assessments regarding issues with the property title, mortgage bonds (if applicable) or the validity of contracts including alternatives to mitigate and control such risks.
Certify the title of property.
Supervise the execution of ground contracts and related documents.
Lead the registration of properties and contracts at the respective Deeds Offices in South Africa.
Manage all licensure and regulatory matters, and all administrative and litigation proceedings involving licensure and regulatory matters
Establish and implement policies relating to diligence and regulatory compliance
Handle all general contracting, including establishment of forms of and negotiation
Manage general representation of property management
Use the personal protection equipment in an appropriate manner, in accordance to safety policies and the position.
Comply with the company’s defined OHSE procedures and regulations

Qualifications:

Admitted Attorney, with a minimum of a BCom LLB or LLB qualification, required.
6-8 years of post-article experience, preferably in real estate transactions including, but not limited to landlord-tenant relations, development & construction.
Wireless industry knowledge preferred.
Knowledge of general corporate and litigation matters strongly preferred
Ability to travel via air and/or ground transportation as needed
Fluent in English and Afrikaans
Ability to read, analyze and interpret legal documents and financial reports.
Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts and apply those concepts in spreadsheet analysis, report generation and decision making recommendations.
Ability to apply principles of legal and logical thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret abstract and concrete ideas.
