MAIN JOB PURPOSE

The purpose of the Group Legal risk and compliance manager is to strategically oversee the legal risk and compliance department which includes the following functions, Statutory, Legal contract, data security; and OHS management. Risk, compliance, and contract management is a core focus of the role. The LRCM will support operational infrastructure and efficiencies, focusing on internal affairs of the organisation to ensure a high level of risk mitigation and management of sound practices along with efficient processes and templates within the functions mentioned above. The LRCM in an entrepreneurial environment will use her/his skill and experience in governance, administration, and business management to work with the boards to identify and manage legal and compliance matters while also aligning to strategies and new initiatives, act as change agent, mentor, coach, counsel, and direct team members to achieve the Groups goals.

? The Group Legal risk and compliance manager reports to the Group Managing Director.
? In collaboration with the Executives members, the Group Legal risk and compliance manager champions appropriate professional activities, behaviour, integrity, ethical conduct that represents the values, culture, and Signa brand in all stakeholder engagements.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Tertiary Education in
? in corporate governance and company secretarial
? At lease a Higher Diploma in Business Administration
? B. Com law or equivalent
? Project Management Course
? At least 5 years’ experience in successful legal risk and compliance management in a corporate/ group environment
? 8-10+ years’ experience in senior management
? Experience in data security and management
? Combination of private small business and corporate legal management experience
? Track record in negotiating and drafting and managing sound commercial/business contracts – at least 5 years
? At least 5 years’ risk management experience
? At least 3 years’ experience in managing group comprehensive insurance risk portfolios
? At least 3 years’ experience in company secretarial work
? Lease and facilities management experience
? Some experience with (at least credible working knowledge of) OHS compliance
? Process mapping and problem solving
? Management information systems and communication technologies will be an added advantage
? Sound Leadership and track record in collaboration, stakeholder engagement and people management

COMPETENCIES & SKILLS

? Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral (including presentations)
? High level of computer literacy/Microsoft, including word, excel spreadsheets, presentations, databases and the Internet, Google suite, Microsoft outlook and Visio
? High level of strategic thinking and ability to see the big picture and interrelated parts in a group structure
? Strong negotiation, contracting and contract management skills
? High level of understanding and experience in legal contracts and concepts related to all agreements required in the group.
? Business experience is essential.
? High level of understanding of risk management and mitigation, insurance systems, occupational health and safety systems
? Strong skills in company secretarial practice, corporate governance and working with the CIPC.
? High level of understanding of effective management information systems, finance systems, storage and communication tools
? High level of skill in process mapping, analysis and problem solving
? Excellent project management, logistics and stakeholder relations skills
? Excellent planning, organisational and administrative skills
? Deals effectively with pressure and has a strong ability to multi-task and prioritize
? Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with people at all levels in a wide range of organisations
