Legal Secretary ( JB1125)
The following position has become available in the Legal Department. The successful incumbent will report to the Group Legal Manager and Company Secretary and will be responsible for the following activities:
2 to 3 years current experience in a legal environment.
Experience in company secretarial duties and regulatory compliances an advantage
Essential to know how to diarize and follow up on matters. Essential to implement and manage this daily.
Fastidious about meeting and court deadlines.
Being able to assist Group Legal manager with company board and exco meeting requirements and follow ups.
Able to work independently without supervision but knows when to seek supervision or guidance.
Office administration of files, filing systems and updating essential. This must be a compulsive trait of yours.
Ensuring that all documents are saved in folders and maintain folder for each matter electronically and manually.
Drafting monthly status reports.
Excellent research skills in legal matters
Able to assist with expansion programme into Africa and internationally –research and compiling reports.
Degree, diploma, qualification an added bonus.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Drafting of legal/litigation documents
Attending to correspondences, emails
Drafting agreements, internal leases, contracts
Requesting for payments and following up
Diary management-setting up meetings
Attending to diarizing files
Opening and closing of files- electronic and manual
Updating files electronically and manually
Drafting briefs/instructions to counsel
Attending to keeping the attorney updated with the court dates, drafting pleadings, making copies, and making sure that same is served and filed in time
Time to time reception duty
Drafting status reports on matters
Minute taking at internal disciplinary hearings
Assisting in research, compiling relevant files
Collating and adjusting of correspondent attorneys’ monthly fees
Attending to the request of correspondent attorneys/advocates monthly fees.
Keeping a record of all lease agreements
Doing work for other managers
Setting up meetings, sending meeting requests, preparing packs, making copies.
