Our Engineering client is looking for a Logistics Intern. This is a 12-month Internship. The purpose of this position is to provide a graduate with the opportunity to learn and gain practical experience on the job by supporting the logistics team in the delivery of services efficiently and effectively.

Position type: Internship – 12-months

Salary: up to R20 000 per month.

Working Hours: 8am to 5pm M-F (Can start earlier)

Responsibility

The duties of the intern shall include the following which may vary from time to time depending on the nature and frequency of activities:
Ensure that goods are received and shipped in the most efficient way
Assist the logistics controller with the creation of shipping documents
Assist in obtaining transport and customs clearance quotations
Consolidate shipments from the same location to optimize the logistics costs
Ensure that import and export compliance procedures are followed for all shipments
Check the country-specific regulations for the shipping destination and look up the rules on the parts to ascertain no permit is required
Ensure that SOPs for all logistics activities are followed
Apply the theoretical knowledge in logistics management
Coordinate with drivers for the collection and delivery of local orders
Performing other tasks assigned by the Supply Chain Manager and Logistics Controller
Send PODs and customs clearance paperwork to the Accounts, Sales and Procurement departments.

Requirements
Degree in Logistics and Transportation/Supply Chain Management/Industrial Engineering/International Trade or related field with a strong academic record
Strong work ethic with high attention to detail
Flexibility and eagerness to learn
Strong communication skills
Punctual and team player
Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Tools: Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
