Machine Area Specialist Control & Automation – Port Elizabeth
Salary – R750 000 CTC

Key Purpose
To maintain, repair and optimize plant and associated devices to ensure plant availability and product quality at minimum cost without sacrificing standards.

Duties:
• Solid understanding, programming of PLC’s and Frequency Converters
• Optimisation of all control systems including utilities, processing and production lines by analysing downtime and engineering solutions.
• Ensure that all process control software is backed up and up to date according to set standards
• Coach, guide and assist technicians in breakdown situations if an escalation occurs.
• Analyse downtime for trends and proactively eliminate major causes
• Ensure the integrity and reliability of production systems software and hardware from PLC devices to ERP system by monitoring maintenance, adherence to standards and effective problem solving
• Electrical standby as per roster
• Preventative electrical maintenance work.
• Membership of a fault-finding team.
• Modification projects (whenever necessary).
• Installation of new equipment.
• Development of work instructions related to electrical equipment.
• Monitor and manage performance of equipment.
• Optimize machine performance and lay-out.
• Optimization of maintenance schedules and critical electrical spares for engineering store
• Optimize machine availability.
• Ability to work shifts and be available on call-out where necessary

Requirements:
• N4 with Trade Test (Electrical) / N6 National Diploma Electrical Engineering (preferred)
• PC literacy essential - Microsoft packages.
• Knowledge of SAP will be an advantage.
• At least 3 years in C&A or instrumentation as well as coding and inspection equipment.
• Specialised knowledge of Instrument and Control calibrations, configurations, maintenance, fault finding, installation standards, documentation standards and instrumentation protocols.
• Basic understanding of and experience with Wonderware Archestra and Intouch based SCADA systems
• In-depth knowledge of PLCs hardware and software and industrial networking
• Good manufacturing and process understanding
