Our client is needing a Maintenance Manager to ensure safety, health and environmental compliance with legislation, standards and company standard operating procedures. To also ensure adequate and timeous maintenance of all Property, Plant and Equipment in terms of a planned maintenance schedule, or repairs in the event of a breakdown.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Risk Management
• Conduct risk assessments and impact analysis monthly for fire, equipment, and facility.
• Ensure emergency preparedness and conduct yearly plant evacuation.

Maintenance Management
• Responsible for the maintenance of all company property, plant and equipment.
• Responsible for the maintenance of the factory buildings, premises and facilities, and that they meet
the requirements of the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA).
• Prepare an annual maintenance schedule and carry out maintenance in terms of the timelines in this
schedule.
• Ensure unplanned maintenance is performed as per the job cards and timeously.
• Prepare a schedule of strategic spares required and a system of control over usage thereof.
• Responsible for the monitoring of daily start-up checks and audits.
• Ensuring that plant availability is kept to a maximum.
• Provide reporting to management weekly on machine downtime.Occupational Health and Safety Management
• Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and applicable regulations, such as
but not limited to:
o Conduct audits and risk assessments to ensure safe workplace.
o Ensure management safety appointments are in place and compliant.
o Chair the Health and Safety Committee and ensure meetings are held at regular intervals.
o Ensure all affected employees are medically monitored if exposed to environmental risks
within the workplace.
o Ensure 2 yearly environmental workplace assessments are conducted by the Association of
Inspection Authorities (AIA);
o Ensure hygiene is maintained according to regulations.
o Maintain and retain documented information on OSHA legal requirements and other
requirements and shall ensure that it is updated to reflect any changes.
• Ensure effective communication of injuries i.e. Lost work day case (LWDC) and Minor Injuries and
Occupational Diseases;
• Ensure Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act (COIDA) application is updated
when required.
• Maintain risk audits for Automatic Sprinkler Inspection Bureau (ASIB), fire hazard and environmental.

Environmental Management
• Ensure compliance with legislative requirements.
• Complete and submit site permit applications including effluent, gas usage and buildings.
• Monitor waste streams i.e. landfill, air and water pollution, including general waste.
Reporting
• Compile and monitor all SHE related information and status updates for timeous submission to
Manco.

Department Management
• Management of employees.
• Coach and mentor direct reports to ensure personal development of team members.
• Ensure staff development so that the required expertise and skills are maintained.
• Ensure effective leave and absentee management.
• Investigate and resolve performance issues timeously.
• Foster a culture of teamwork and understanding.
• Ensure the team understand and protect the confidentiality of information.

Qualifications & Experience
• Relevant Technical Qualification, National Diploma or Degree in the Mechanical or Electrical field
(3-year degree) coupled with a Safety & Health qualification.
• Ideally at least 5 years’ SHE experience in a manufacturing or related environment.
• Thorough knowledge of all legislative and regulatory requirements.
• Extremely proficient in audit methodologies and procedures.
• Thorough knowledge of the Occupational Safety and Health Act and its Regulations.
