Maintenance Manager required by a 5* Boutique Hotel. Responsible for the repair and maintenance of all facilities, buildings and equipment. Supervise and lead maintenance staff in an effective manner and ensure the level of morale is maintained. Min Grade 12; 3-5 years maintenance experience with solid understanding of technical aspects of electrical, plumbing, carpentry and hvac systems. Good verbal communication skills in English. Knowledge of the operation of a hotel or similar establishments is required.

Key Performance Objectives:
• Conduct inspections of all buildings and premises for needed services and repairs.
• Coordinate emergency and regular repairs to buildings and equipment.
• Coordinate services and maintain fire protection equipment in the form of fire hoses and extinguishers.
• Supervise and coordinate swimming pool maintenance.
• Coordinate maintenance and repairs to structural, mechanical and electrical systems.
• Coordinate maintenance and repairs of geysers, heating and air conditioning systems, water systems including pumps.
• Coordinate maintenance and repairs of building interiors and exteriors.
• Coordinate maintenance and repairs of finishing, ceilings, flooring and roofing.
• Coordinate services, maintenance and repairs to appliances including stoves, refrigeration units and laundry equipment and machines.
• To ensure that repairs are done safely and that the correct protective gear is worn
• Assist all other staff in the performance of maintenance tasks
• To ensure that all repair work and tasks are done to the high standards of the hotel
• To work in close conjunction with other departments to ensure a smooth and efficient service to all groups and Guests
• To respond quickly to areas of concern
• To be hands on to preventative maintenance
• To be knowledgeable regarding tiling, painting, electrical, carpentry and other skills required to maintain the property

Minimum Experience and Qualification Required:
• Grade 12
• 3-5 years maintenance experience
• Electrical or maintenance certificate would be advantageous
• Experience in planning maintenance operations
• Solid understanding of technical aspects of electrical, plumbing, carpentry and hvac systems
• Ability to keep track and report on planned maintenance activities
• Good verbal communication skills in English

Skills:
• Good handyman skills – sound working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, bricklaying/paving and painting trades,
• Ability to deal with emergencies, troubleshoot problems and implement corrective actions,
• Knowledge of the operation of a hotel or similar establishments,
• Ability to direct others, delegate and monitor assignments,
• The ability to work both as an individual, and to work cooperatively with others in a team
