A vacancy exists in Aluminum Industry in the eastern suburbs with the following criteria to oversee the implementation of maintenance programmes for Front End process equipment, and ensure maintenance activities are carried out in an effective manner

Duties & Responsibilities:
• Supports the development and ensures the implementation of maintenance policy and procedures for Front End process equipment
• Oversees the installation of Front End process equipment by equipment contractors
• Communicates with the production team on maintenance related issues
• Coordinates the troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance (preventive and corrective) for all equipment involved in GZI’s Front End production process. E.g. Body Maker, Cupper, Trimmers, Washers, Bailer, etc. Back End Production E.g. Decorator, Necker, LSM and Palletizer.
• Implements Front End maintenance programmes and ensures the proper and efficient maintenance and repair of Front End process equipment
• Obtains and reviews maintenance checklist/programme for Front End Process Equipment from the Maintenance Planning unit, and ensures all items on the checklist are addressed
• Contracts maintenance work that is beyond the scope/capability of the Maintenance unit. This includes defining the work scope, soliciting bids from vendors, vendor selection, and safe work execution
• Examines and inspects worn out or defected tools, and determines course of action for reworking, fixing or replacing them
• Supports the tools procurement process by recommending spare parts, and required/special tools that will ensure effective maintenance activities
• Supervises Equipment Rework/ Grinding activities. This involves reworking production equipment parts and spares to return them to design capability
• Reviews maintenance schedule and ensures the Tool Room is adequately stocked at all times to meet equipment maintenance requirements
• Supervises the setting up and operation of machine tools, grinders, and other maintenance tools
• Oversees the selection, grinding, and adjustment of tools, ensuring correct speeds and feed rates of tooling for efficient machining
• Ensures that parts and tooling are in accordance with requirements, instructions, prints, and work orders. May be required to make drawings or sketches of parts to be made or repaired
• Interprets drawings, calculates, and determines indices, tapers, and other dimensions to be used for part(s)
• Ensures that all maintenance programs comply with all the applicable Health, Safety and Environmental regulations
• Promotes safety culture in the team and ensures required training, PPE and safety tools are provided by the HSE department, in order to ensure safe maintenance activities
• Provides direction to Front End Maintenance and Tool Room team, and ensures the quality of work meets with performance expectations
• Provides on-the-job coaching and mentoring to Front End Maintenance and Tool Room employees
• Prioritises and assign tasks to subordinates to ensure effective workflow
• Reviews/inspects work carried out by subordinates, and evaluates their performance

Minimum Requirements
• Minimum of a National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline such as Millwright or Fitter and Turner.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in manufacturing process industry of which minimum 4 years in a Supervisor role in tool room & maintenance Department.
• Good understanding of metal forming process and tools.
• Good knowledge in preventive maintenance of machineries and equipment.
• Good Knowledge mechanical parts - Assembly and sub Assembly.
• Experience Hydraulic & Pneumatic and Automation.
