Our client, a leading international Mining Group is looking for an experienced and qualified Technical Training Manager at their Training Academy near Carletonville.

Summary:

The role of a Manager: Technical Training is to manage the Technical Training discipline and teams in order to ensure optimal delivery of services.

The appointee should:

Have a relevant degree in a Technical field (Mining, Engineering, etc.)
Be in possession of either MMCC or GCC
Have a tertiary qualification in training and development
Professional Registration with regulatory bodies (AMRE, ECSA, etc.)
More than 10 years’ experience in a related management and strategic role with broad mining training experience (e.g. Geology, Survey, Mineral Resources Management, Concentrators, etc.), of which 7 should have been at a management level or experience in a functional/specialist area
Have excellent verbal and written communication skills
Be computer literate (MS Office – medium to advanced skills in Excel)
Have valid driver’s licence and own vehicle
Be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at a relevant Sibanye Stillwater Occupational Health Centre

Advantageous requirements:

Experience in dealing with Further Education Training College (FETC) and Higher Education Forum (HEF) for Technical Training Advisory Board
Experience in dealing with tertiary institutions with regards to Mining , Engineering and Technical qualifications ( MRM, Metallurgy, Rock Engineering)
Demonstrate an understanding of Human Capital Development principles and best practices
Understand and apply the National Skills Development Strategy (NSDS) and Sector Skills Plan (SSP)
Demonstrate an understanding of the outcomes-based education and training approach within the context of a National Qualifications Framework
Demonstrate an understanding of the South African Mining and Minerals Sector
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the relevant terminology used in mining (surface and underground hard rock)
Demonstrate an understanding of legislation and compliance in the Mining and Minerals Sector
Demonstrate basic understanding of the relevant HR Legislation that impacts on a business: BCEA, LRA, COIDA, EEA, SDA, MQA and NAMB
Demonstrate and apply knowledge and understanding of relevant current Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental legislation
Demonstrate knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act, regulations and definitions
Demonstrate an understanding of quality measurements of a Quality Management System
Demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of principles of budgeting and financial management
Demonstrate an understanding in accreditation of courses through MQA, PSIRA and NAMB
Demonstrate an understanding of Security training accreditation and delivery

Key responsibilities include:

Manage the Technical Training discipline and teams in order to ensure optimal delivery of services
Assess business requirements and determine Technical Training needs
Determine needs for the design of new Technical Training programs or the customisation and tailoring of generic Technical Training programmes
Determine appropriate organisational needs analysis methodology/systems to identify the skills needs of the organisation (skills audits, skills surveys, etc.)
Analyse the results of the organisational needs analysis and make suitable recommendations
Review existing programmes and courses to determine deficiencies and gaps
Research new Technical Training methodologies, systems and practices that will enhance and optimize services beyond current stated objectives
Research and benchmark Technical Training systems and processes against industry standards
Develop and manage new policies and procedures and maintain and update existing policies and procedures according to the QMS procedures
Manage Training Quality Assurance systems and processes and ensure compliance with all statutory requirements (DMR, SETA, MQA and NAMB).
Conduct internal audits within the Training Quality Management System and ensure SETA accreditation and ISO certification is maintained
Design and develop instruments to evaluate education, training and development effectiveness
Measure Return on Investment (ROI) in training
Drive a culture of Learning and Continuous Improvement within the Technical Training discipline in order to ensure achievement of organisational objectives
Determine internship, learnerships and bursary requirements based on the Social & Labour Plan (SLP)
