MARINE GUIDE – Luxury Boutique Style Lodge – De Hoop Nature Reserve

Our client is a luxury boutique style 5-suite lodge in the De Hoop Nature Reserve, situated just a few 100 meters from the pristine beach, surrounded by fynbos. The popular marine walks entail a guided tidal walk that allows you to encounter the rich diversity of marine life from octopus to vibrant sea anemones. Guided fynbos walks introduces guests to over 1 500 different species of seasonal flowers.
Pick Me Recruitment is seeking a Marine Guide to join their team. Offering a core service, the Marine guides are fully responsible for conducting guided marine experiences at De Hoop Nature Reserve that are unique, personalised, professional and memorable, catering to the specific needs of each individual guest. A sound knowledge of the fynbos and surrounding area is essential.

Minimum Requirements:

• A minimum of 2 years work experience as a marine guide in a similar lodge environment
• Excellent knowledge of the Fynbos and surroundings
• Level 2 FGASA qualification fully completed
• All Legal requirements
• Valid First Aid certificate
• Hospitality industry experience will be advantageous
• A valid South African Code 8 Driver’s license and Valid PDP
• A passion for nature, wildlife conservation and hospitality
• A passion for people and creating a holistic experience, knowledgeable about the bush and wildlife
• Strong maintenance knowledge and IT savvy
• Team player and able to work remotely
• Have a good command of the English language, written and spoken
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Able to create a curated guest experience
• Sociable and confident, and able to entertain / host
• Eager and motivated for self-development and those of others
• It is a requirement to have all vaccinations up to date

SCOPE OF WORK:
• Ensures the highest quality of guided experience for the guests
• Assist in hosting guests
• Shows an exceptional appreciation and sensitivity to the environment at all time
• Ensures that guest and staff safety
• Excellent interdepartmental communication to ensure service excellence
• Maintenance and upkeep of vehicles and related equipment
• Carries out administration duties timeously and effectively
• Excellent teamwork ability
