Our national client, a leading polymer producer, is seeking to hire an experienced Mechanical Technologist to join their highly successful manufacturing team in Durban.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Plan and oversee the execution of daily maintenance activities, including breakdowns and repairs.
• Plan and manage the execution of shutdowns, outages, and turnarounds.
• Ensure preventative maintenance schedules are implemented promptly and with a focus on quality.
• Ensure repairs and modifications comply with OEM and design standards, as well as statutory requirements.
• Ensure the availability of materials, spares, and resources.
• Develop and update procedures for maintenance activities (e.g., refurbishing a pump, repairing cranes) and provide training to the maintenance team accordingly.
• Must be computer literate with knowledge of a Maintenance Management Information System (SAP or similar).
• Work collaboratively within an empowered maintenance team.
• Lead small maintenance projects.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
• ND in Electrical Engineering; B-Tech preferred
• 3–5 years of experience in an industrial maintenance environment
• Experience and ability to conduct fault finding on electrical circuits
• Above-average knowledge of engineering practices and standards
• High level of teamwork and strong communication skills
• Understanding of lifting machine regulations.
• Familiarity with pressure equipment regulations.
• Expertise in equipment maintenance strategies.
• Practical experience with canned motor pumps, forced induction cooling systems, towers, compressors, lifting equipment (hoists), centrifugal pumps, rotary feeders, and agitators.
