Must have Certificate: COM Mine Environmental Control Advanced (full qualification 6 subjects) OR equivalent tertiary qualification
Grade 12 with Maths and Science
Must have at least 5 years Occupational Hygiene experience in a mine ventilation and hygiene industry with 2 years exp. at supervisory/managerial level
Valid Drivers’ License
Must be a Member of South African Institute of Occupational Hygiene
Must be a Member of Mine Ventilation Society
Must have a Supervisory Development Programme (SDP) – or equivalent
OHSAS 18001 / ISO45001
Must be Computer Literacy and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Assist occupational hygiene function in accordance with PDSA's policies and statutory requirements.
Implement the Mine’s Occupational Hygiene and Ventilation programme to mitigate impacts and ensure legal compliance
Assist establishing .managing occupational health programmes
Management of occupational hygiene and ventilation budget
Reports for DMR, Chamber of Mines
Sampling schedules according to legal requirements
Work load schedule according to legal requirements
Conduct research occupational hygiene and ventilation matters
ASSIST auditing of the Occupational Hygiene and Ventilation Management System according to Group practices standards
Implement, training and awareness programmes in relation to health risks
Mine emergency preparedness programme includes legal compliance of the Emergency Control Room, participation in the selection of appropriate underground and surface fire management
Management of surface fire team, surface fire team training +surface fire team equipment
Occupational hygiene, ventilation document management system, records
Manage workplace occupational hygiene, ventilation inspections, investigations
Point sampling programmes,
Water sample collection, fall out dust and biological monitoring, evaluate programmes, enforce standards pertaining to these write reports to meet set deadlines
Occupational hygiene and ventilation inspection results, mitigation controls, compile reports
Handle operational occupational hygiene and ventilation complaints and ensure close out of complaints
Investigate occupational diseases, report occupational diseases
Developing, establishing and enforcing relevant Codes of Practice, standards, procedures, procedures pertaining to fire team management, Issue Based Risk Assessments
Troubleshooting in terms of occupational hygiene and ventilation matters
Contract management
Managing programme control of occupational hygiene, ventilation instruments
Responsible for influencing procurement
Planning of ventilation requirements - short + long term
