Telecommunications | ISP Leader in Stellenbosch is recruiting for a National Head | Fibre to join their fast growing team

The National Head: Fibre is responsible for the coordination and execution of the Fibre Deployment Strategy and the Budget thereof, for Operations from start to finish. The NMF is responsible for the implementation of Policies, Standard Operating
Procedures and Best Practises in the fibre division and branches.
Key Performance Areas would include, but are not limited to:
1. Create and defend Company’s market share through the strategic deployment of fibre optic telecommunication
1. Infrastructure
2. Create scale at the lowest possible cost per customer added
3. Balance - scale, defensibility, speed of deployment and cost to maximize shareholder ROI in the long term
4. Create markets that are commercially viable and contributes to Company’s total revenue growth
5. Install a learning mind culture enabling the branches to self-sustain fibre builds
General Responsibilities
• Strategy
- Be a driver in the development of Company’s fibre strategy
- Take ownership of the fibre strategy approved by EXCO
- Determine the fibre team structure based on the strategy
- Develop the tactical plans that will bring operational reality to the strategy
- Determine the metrics needed to measure success
- Stay abreast of new developments in the industry
- Understand and stay abreast of any competitive risks, political risks and reputational risks
- Determine, communicate and manage the impact of risk factors
- Determine and set clear targets for the direct reports
- Identify, analyze and approve (within the parameters provided by the DOA) fibre projects
- Work with the Branches s to develop roll-out plans for each office
• Management:
- Develop and maintain good relationships with the relevant Industry role players
- Ensure that the Company’s values are upheld in all aspects
- Build and manage a fibre dedicated team as needed over time
- Manage and report the capital allocation between projects
- Create and/or maintain a culture aligned with Company’s values
- Manage the budget allocated to fibre
• Reporting
- Design the monthly reporting standards for finance, commercial, operations
- Provide the monthly quantitative and qualitative management accounts to the EXCO
- Provide Company’s Finance division and EXCO on a monthly basis with the 12-, 6- and 3-month cash
- Need analysis
• Standards and Performance:
- Needs to ensure that standardization is done on a collaborative basis by accumulating the best of all practices in the Company.
- Create a culture of continuous improvement in the fibre division, and a recognition system for those that contribute to improvements.
- Set KPI’s for the fibre division and incentive structures that are aligned with the company’s STI and LTI structure
- Develop training mechanisms that will result in continuous improvement across the group and will result in cross-pollination of skills
• Collaboration:
- Manage fibre resource allocation to the Branches focusing on enablement
- Discuss, analyze, prioritize and attend to the fibre deployment needs of the Branches
• Commercial:
- Develop a commercial team which will assist the GM in achieving the take-up target as indicated in the fibre committee approved proposal
- Remains jointly responsible with the GM in achieving the first 12 months commercial take up figures in the approved fibre proposal, or until the take-up reaches 30%, whichever comes first
- Must develop a sales and marketing program with the GM, to ensure ongoing sales capability after the initial 12-month period
The successful candidate must have the following experience/skills: -
• Analyze and define problems, prioritize workflow, multitask, meet deadlines and remain flexible
• Manage conflict
• Remain calm during difficult situations or in a very busy environment as well as when dealing with difficult calls / conflict situations
• Strong financial acumen-prepare, review, analyze and explain budgets, actual performance and variances.
• Explain the commercial and financial impact of fibre projects
• Build relationships with key stakeholders including municipalities, landlords, body corporates and suppliers
• Professional and pleasant disposition
• Strong and effective communication, problem solving, and decision-making skills are essential
• Ability to use initiative, be proactive and self-motivated
• Work well under pressure
• Strong understanding of the financial impact of large-scale investments
• Ability to communicate performance to the executive committee
Qualifications and Requirements:
• Bachelor's Degree, but preferably a Master's Degree - Degrees in accounting, finance, economics, business, and management offer prospects and advantages
• Candidates from an ICT/Telecoms/ISP background will have an advantage
• Minimum of 5 years at management level
• Knowledge and understanding of the municipal structures and processes
• Delivering results: ability to plan and organize self and identify, prioritize and achieve objectives and targets
