National Operations Manager – Logistics

Location: Pietermaritzburg, KZN
Salary: Market Related

Requirements:
Matric + Relevant tertiary qualification essential: Degree, + Honours (advantageous)
Minimum of 6 - 8 years’ experience in Logistics Operations in a senior management role
Linehaul/Long distance experience essential
Strong Industry knowledge and experience essential
Advanced computer literacy proficiency – Microsoft Office, Reporting, other software
Valid driver’s license and own transport
ISO 9001-2015 knowledge & commitment
Sound knowledge of geographical locations across South Africa

Duties:
Optimizing logistics, transportation operations
Plan, design and implement new systems for turnarounds
Research, analyse, design and implement methods to improve Operational needs to
Implement and analyse financial models
Evaluating costs and making formal presentations to the Executive committee
Create functional strategies and specific objectives for the Operations, Tracking, Call Centre, Fleet Management and Driver Training departments
Manages/oversees all facets of the Operations and sub-departments
Identifies growth opportunities by increasing/maintaining relationships with respective departments & stakeholders and staying current with trends in the industry
Leads/manages/coaches/ direct reports to attain required levels of performance
Develops strategic plans to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency of operations Cultivate and maintain positive business relationships with suppliers, customers and providers of trucking, shipping and other transportation services
Recommend optimal transportation modes, routing or frequency.
Establish and monitor specific operational based performance measurement systems.
Maintain metrics, reports, process documentation and customer service logs.
Resolve problems concerning transportation, logistics systems and customer issues.
Oversee the activities of operations staff on duties such as dispatching/tracking and monitoring of drivers
Plan, process and execute vehicle purchase and vehicle replacement through efficient settlement process.
