TEAM LEAD (NOC) Network Operation Centre

This position will report to the Regional Network Manager and will be based in the Central Region (Tshwane).
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE: The role of the Network Operations Centre (NOC) Team Leader is to manage the activities and performance of their respective NOC Team members within the Region. This is an integral role within the Region and the NOC Team Leader will work closely with the National NOC Team to devise and implement National NOC process, documentation, training, and strategy.
Key Performance Areas would include, but are not limited to:
Leadership:
• Lead and manage a team.
• Manage team performance.
• Clearly communicate expectations, roles and responsibilities to team members and supply employees with the resources required to perform.
• Adhere to and re-enforce the company policies, procedures, and practices always.
• Support, motivate and give feedback to the team.
• Grow and develop team members and encourage team members to do training as and when required.
• Onboard new recruits effective and efficiently.
• Live and promote the companies values and culture.
• Plan and coordinate NOC schedules for the team.
NOC:
• Ensure methodological network planning and implementation.
• Ensure integration with National NOC team upon the rollout of National projects.
• Ensure that RFC Deployment are done, and implementation is up to the required standard.
• Effective planning of network capacity.
• Ensure that network documentation is maintained and correct (I.e., IPAM, BOM sheets and Site profiles).
• Implementation and monitoring of a change plan process for the network.
• Responsible for all network monitoring and management within the Hub.
• Regular / proper configuration and management of MPLS/VLANs.
• Ensure that advanced fault finding is performed, and that the resolution are identified, approved, and implemented.
• Timeously escalate all advanced RF or Fibre issues to the applicable division(s).
• Ensure that customer support by team is professional and that timely feedback to the customer is provided.
• Acting as the point of contact for escalations received from the internal or external NOC department(s).
• Regular reporting on network performance and service availability.
• Efficient reporting on progress, current issues and challenges experienced.
The successful candidate must have the following experience/skills:
• A minimum of 5 years' Network Engineer experience.
• MPLS Expert.
• Mikrotik Routers Expert.
• L2 Switching Expert.
• Networking Expert/Expert+.
• Proven experience on Mikrotik, UBNT & Cambium.
• Dynamic Routing Protocol experience.
• Have a solid theoretical foundation for basic networking concepts like MTU, ARP, DNS,
routing, OSI, packet structures, etc.
• Proven ability to breakdown complex tasks into their base components.
• Proven record of accomplishment in managing a team of technical individuals.
• Advanced problem solving and analytical skills.
• Strong interpersonal & communication skills.
• Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Must be goal driven to achieve KPI's or the desired outcome.
• Ability to work in a pressurised environment and to manage time effectively.
• Must be self-disciplined.
• Advanced OSPF and Dynamic Routing Management knowledge and skills.
• Qualifications
• Grade 12 or NQF 4 equivalent.
• Technical Qualifications in Networking/Routing would be advantageous.
• MTCNA Certification preferrable.
• MTCRE Certification preferrable.
