Operations Manager: Group Compliance
Cape Town
• Develop a technology roadmap as well as design, implement and manage compliance-related technology initiatives, including the Group Compliance Management System (GCMS), Legal Entity Management (LEM) database and a centralised third-party service provider record system
• Develop, implement and manage a process to initiate, coordinate and administer applications for regulatory approvals and notifications to regulators by the Insurance Group
• Investigate and make recommendations in respect of the innovative use of technology by the Group Compliance Office (GCO) and the Group’s compliance functions to maximise operational efficiencies
• Assist in driving the efficiency of the GCO as the compliance control function of the Insurance Group by streamlining the operations of the GCO and its interactions with the compliance functions in the rest of the Group
• Develop, implement and manage metrics to assess the maturity of the GCO and the compliance functions of the Group and to benchmark the function against other similar functions
• Develop, implement and support programs that promote collaboration and knowledge sharing across the compliance functions in the Group
• Build strong relationships within the Group’s compliance functions and other cross-functional stakeholders including Internal Audit, Risk Management, Finance, GTI, Legal, Human Resources and operational teams
• Liaise with GTI team on identifying, implementing, integrating, and optimizing applications and tools, and building internal tools and automation capabilities
• Drive other operational efficiencies within the GCO to increase productivity and contain costs
Qualification, Knowledge and Experience
• Degree in Law, Finance, - Management or Information Technology (IT)
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in compliance, legal, finance or IT, preferably building or managing operational programs and systems, projects, and processes
• Sound understanding of financial sector regulations will be an advantage
• Deep technical understanding on the use of technology platforms to drive efficiencies
• Strong organisational, project management and execution skills
• Proven technology-savvy skill
