PAYROLL Accountant

Our client, based in the Vaal Triangle urgently looking for a Payroll Manager, with vast experience in the large FMCG/Manufacturing Industry

Ensure smooth and efficient running of the payroll process and authorizing the payroll before release. Reporting to Management on relevant payroll issues. Ensure that relevant policies and procedures are implemented to address identified risks.

Experience:
• Minimum 3 years relevant commercial experience in payroll and accounting in a large FMCG/Manufacturing Industry

Qualifications:

Work closely with Cost Accounting department as well reporting on:
• Kg production/ man hr
• Labour Cost / Kg
• Lost Labour hrs
• Etc. etc

And work closely with Financial Accounting department reporting on:
• Payroll recons
• PAYE recons
• Provident fund and medical aid fund recons
• WCA calculations
• Reviewing, Auditing and authorizing payroll
• Implementing SOP’s


Management of payroll function:
• Overall responsibility and management of the complete payroll function
• Ensure that SOP’s are adhered to
• Review and authorize salary and wages payroll process prior to submitting for payment
• Review and authorize commission calculations
• Review and authorize leave payout

Authorization of Creditor Reconciliation
• Final review and authorization function of credit reconciliations submitted for payment related to payroll
• Ensure that creditors are paid within credit terms provided
• Ensure that payment requests are accurate, complete and valid
• Specific reference to Medical Aid, Provident funds, Funeral Funds, Labor Union membership fees, Garnishee orders, Labor Brokers etc.

Payroll Reconciliations and Resolve account discrepancies
• Responsible for reconciling accounts of Medical aid funds, Provident funds, Funeral funds.
• Follow up and resolving with service providers on any variances.
• Reporting to management

Payroll SOP’s
• Compile, review, implement and manage relevant payroll SOP’s

Managing the Payroll Audit Function on Financial Year End
• Liaising with external auditors
• Overall responsibility and working paper preparation for the financial year end audits related to company payroll

Systems
• Find solutions to streamline reporting and payroll efficiency
• Identify areas that need improvement and provide recommendations to management

Statutory Requirements, Financial Regulation and Legislation
• Ensure that all statutory regulations, legal requirements and relevant legislation are adhered to in terms of financial responsibilities
• Preparation and reconciliation of WCA calculations

Liaising with external service providers
• Overall responsibility and management of company provident funds and medical aid funds

Tax Function:
• Calculate, compile, reconcile and submit to the finance department relevant SARS submissions
• Half year payroll reconciliation
• Monthly PAYE Reconciliations

Manpower
• Jointly responsible for management of subordinates in regards with:
• Time and attendance
• Leave planning
• IR / Discipline
• Development / Performance management of subordinates
• Individual development and training plans
• Provide assistance and training
• Recruitment
• Optimum utilization and allocation of resources

Communication
• Build productive relationships / harmonious within department and with other internal departments
• Facilitate communication and problem solving of members of staff and various departments. Lead by example
• Effective communication with management

Training & Assistance
• Provide assistance and training to colleagues
• Jointly responsible for cross skilling, succession planning and contingency planning

Prepare & Present reports:
• Assist in preparation of relevant reports as per company needs and management request
• In depth analysis and reporting on workforce productivity and costs per factory/department
• Gathering, analyzing, summarizing, interpreting data and making recommendations
