Job Description:

Procurement and supply management:
Develop and maintain good relationships with existing grower base.
Close co-operation with growers and pack houses.
Collect, consolidate, and distribute two weekly forecasts received from growers on a weekly basis.
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with the Logistics and Sales team.
Liaise with the Sales team to understand current and upcoming requirements.
Allocate available fruit, create bulk packing instructions, and place orders with pack houses.
Coordinate with the export team and trucking company for the fruit to be loaded out.
Place bulk packing instructions with pack houses and adjust orders as the supply or demand changes.
Stock management and control – distribute the weekly arrival and truck plan to the Operations Team.
Ensure that the supply chain is appropriate and cost effective, based on budget, markets, infrastructure and need for timely delivery.
Oversee procurement requirements and implement requirements as per approved guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures.
Produce weekly procurement tracker and prepare a weekly summary of all expected fruit volumes and match fruit supply to sales programmes.
Produce weekly supply trends between forecast and actual delivered volumes.
Challenge weekly grower forecasts vs crop estimate in conjunction with the pre-harvest representative.
Plan, link and allocate new batches to specific packing instruction order numbers.
Distribute allocations and indicate where changes to batches need to be made.
Be up to date with current marketing strategies, prices, and trends to understand the commercial realities of decisions in pack houses.
Procurement and Logistics alignment:
Supply bulk forecast allocations info to Logistics team to plan and schedule air and sea freight bookings.
Planning of weekly and short-term shipping programs in conjunction with the Logistics and Operations Manager.
Plan daily shipping programs in conjunction with the Logistics team.
Communicate allocation plans to export team.
Communicate sea freight loading plans to export team.
Logistics administration and reporting:
Produce weekly report to indicate grower exposure to markets.
Weekly grower analysis, review, and queries.
Liaise and collaborate with internal and external parties to ensure requirements are met; including procurement, distribution, allocations and delivery of fruit.
Stay abreast of the changing parameters within the SA Export industry.
Maintain and update internal exporting system with relevant fruit data.
Ensure that pre-season planning is in place and aligned with the Sales, Pre-Harvest, Post-Harvest and Logistics Teams.
Conduct post season reconciliations, reports and solve post-season queries.
Prepare and present Post-Season Grower reviews.
Review and update protocols.

Qualifications:

Degree in supply chain management or logistics (desirable)
Driver’s license and own transport
