Duties & Responsibilities:
• Design and develop new products in line with customer and licensor specifications and selected technology at budgeted costs and within agreed timing & prototype developments.
• Manage new project and Engineering specification testing.
• Project planning, project management, costing and status reporting.
• Develop Bill of materials and formulate product costing quotations.
• Responsible for process design and associated paperwork related to the process.
• Liaise with licensors / customers to obtain timeous technical information and ensure its relevant utilization in product and process design and development.
• Compile and submit approval request documentation for product approvals.
• Liaise with suppliers regarding the development of new products/tooling and provide technical assistance.
• Compile and maintain the FMEA’s.
• Assess current products in view of design improvements and cost reduction.
• Design, manage and commission new processes & production support.
• Manage any assigned trainees.
• Innovation of product and processes and implementation of innovation.
• Jig & Fixtures/Tooling conceptualisation, development & industrialisation.
• ISIR reports – Review & Approval.
• Mentor Production associates.
• Lead OEE activity in allocated focus area and process scrap reduction.
• Design out warranty and quality related customer problems.
• Self develop electronic competence in the medium term as per work requirements.
• Generate manufacturing improvement ideas (1/month).
• Any Activity based on operational needs.

Minimum Qualification/Experience:

• BSc / B-Tech: Mechanical Engineering
• 3 years Vehicle Automotive related experience.
• Project management experience.
• Design and drawing experience
• Preferably product development experience with automotive products
