PRODUCT INDUSTRIALISATION ENGINEER
This position reports to: Process Engineering Manager
Main Purpose: The purpose of the position is to provide product support to previously industrialised items in a manner not jeopardising current implementation projects as well as to optimally convert the product baseline (PBL) generated by Design Engineering into a manufacturing baseline (MBL) by using tools and techniques such as Systems Engineering, Concurrent Engineering, etc. to minimize unit cost, improve product quality and reduce time to market.
Responsibilities:
The work and responsibilities will cover a range of activities, including inter alia the following duties:
• Industrialisation of new products and modifications to products and components;
• Optimally convert the Product Baseline (PBL) into a Manufacturing Baseline (MBL);
• Use the Pre-Production phase to evaluate and update the Manufacturing Baseline (MBL);
• Ensuring all aspects of Impact Engineering Change Proposals are processed according to: Cost, Phase- out, Implementation and Stock;
• Support on existing products and production processes, i.e. Failure Diagnostics, Corrective Action Requests, Improvement Initiatives and Ongoing
Cost Saving Initiatives.
• Support for Industrialisation processes, procedures and systems, relevant technologies and techniques;
• Ensure that the time to market is shortened, especially regarding building of prototypes, and the tooling strategy in general;
• Compiling and submission of monthly reports and progress reports and various administration functions in accordance with processes and
procedures.
Qualifications & Experience:
The suitable candidate should have:
• Grade 12
• B-Eng./ B-Tech. in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering;
• At least 3 years’ experience in a multi-disciplinary manufacturing environment;
• Experience in the industrialisation of products;
• Exposure to tool and die making, an advantage;
• Working knowledge of Systems Engineering principles;
• Self-driven, enthusiastic, pedantic.
