Our client, an established manufacturer, supplier and installer of concrete products, seeks to appoint a Production Manager who will be responsible for the full production, safety and quality assurance function of the plant.
A minimum of 8 years experience in a Production Management role within a manufacturing environment (preferably concrete) will be required. Strong emphasis is placed on Health & Safety compliance.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree/ Undergraduate degree in Technical discipline; Engineering preferred.
• Experience with material handling equipment and the demonstrated ability to learn the specific technology. Experience in a cement/concrete would be advantageous.
• Lean, Six Sigma training/certification and understanding of the associated problem-solving tools will be advantageous.
• 10 years progressive operations experience in a manufacturing environment.
• 10 years’ experience at Plant Manager level OR Plant Superintendent level.
• Must possess excellent leadership skills with the ability and interest in developing and coaching others and have strong communication skills with all levels of the organization.
• Excellent understanding of manufacturing including the ability to see broad business issues and be able to develop and execute plans towards objectives.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills with all levels of the organization.
• Ability to use a computer, MS Office Software, email and operation software.
• Result oriented, identifies issues and drives the decision process

Job Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of plant operations through plant staff to ensure the site meets or exceeds the key performance indicators for safety, quality and service while minimizing cost, inventory and waste.
• Implement programs for continuous improvement and profit management for all operations while working closely with the LOB (Line of Business) team (to assure a close connection to sales opportunities) and with R&D for NPD (New product development).
• Ensures the safety and well-being of all employees, contractors and visitors to the plant, including but not limited to, that all employees have the correct PPE, providing training for employees on assigned shift and complying with all OHS regulations and company safety.
• Report and correct any unsafe or questionable areas and practices to management as soon as possible.
• Ensure plant operates, quality control achieved, and production targets are communicated in production meetings with department supervisors.
• Determine when process parameters need to be altered to increase reliability, throughput, or reduce/increase labour.
• Train and motivate employees to work safely and productively.
• Authorize work schedules, overtime and time-off as permitted by the needs of the department and in accordance with company policies.
• Ensures the completion of required documentation to complete the job.
• Validate the required production reporting at the end of each shift.
• Wear proper safety equipment while on company premises.
• Meet or exceed company safety standards.
• Plan and manage the execution of outages.
• Must maintain and manage department budgeting process.
• Identify and pursue continuous improvement programs for HSE and Quality Assurance. Maintain high standards of safety, housekeeping, and environmental awareness among all employees.
• Develop and recommend yearly production plan based on projected sales plans and projected costs; Identify opportunities for growth in capacity and capability. Budget for equipment & facilities maintenance cost.
• Manage the maintenance schedules of all Plant and Machinery in collaboration with the Workshop Supervisor.
