In working for a well established Engineering and Manufacturing company, the successful candidate will be reporting to the Operations Manager as a member of the Operations Team based in Richards Bay. The Planner will be responsible for preparing and monitoring planning schedules from the initial proposal stages through to engineering, procurement, sales, delivery, installation and commissioning phases using best practices related to resource planning and risk management.

Job Description

Analyse and planning of workload for all company schedules
Identify and validate key deliverables , stages of work and work completed milestones
Create detailed list of work processes ie. activities, deliverables, work sequences, durations and identifying critical tasks
Measure and report progress of all activities and deliverables weekly
Monitor and report cost earned vs cost spent for each activity and deliverable
Prepare and negotiate contract schedules with engineering, manufacturing and SMPP installation subcontractors and suppliers
Implement and progress monitor all schedules of activities for major equipment suppliers, subcontractors and site activities
Prepare information for weekly / monthly progress reports as well as conducting of gap analysis exercises and planning of revisions for internal and external customers
Communicate with all internal departments and sites to ensure consistency between multiple schedules of activities for different projects
Liaise proactively to anticipate and resolve any potential or delays experienced
Update and develop methodologies and planning tools to measure progress of projects
Build and maintain good relationships with other departments will be key to the success of the job

Minimum Requirements

Good MS Project/Primavera skills
Previous work planner/project planner experience within a manufacturing / engineering organisation (entire process from request for quotation to completion)
Pro-active / driven team player
Ability to lead weekly planning meetings
Excellent communication skills
Knowledge of Six sigma /continuous improvement will be advantageous.
SAP R3 /B1 experience preferred
