One of our clients, a multi-national dairy and food company has a vacancy for a Project Engineer at their plant in Bonnievale.

Job Overview:

The main responsibility is to manage projects at the plant. This exciting career opportunity will enable you to play your part in ensuring that the company achieves its challenging objectives during the next phase of its growth in South Africa.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist the Plant Manager with improving cheese production efficiencies and reduce cost (Capex projects and or Major maintenance projects)
• Do regular detailed technical audits on cheese production lines with reports and recommendations
• Participate in weekly meetings regarding the plants’ previous week’s efficiencies and improvement action plans
• Improve reliability and availability of production lines
• Train staff about best practices in plants
• Do general project cost management including budget, committed and projected costing
• Conducting feasibility studies and optimizing resources
• Supporting the transfer of expertise to the Operational Team, by providing training concepts and interventions
• Give technical input for Capex requirements and plant availability over a three (3) year plan.
• Align technical project planning with company strategy for optimal balance between timing, Capex, resources and technical output
• Networking and liaising with Engineering Design companies, equipment suppliers and New Technology providers as well within the Group
• Ensuring compliance with Occupational Health and safety Act and all other statutory requirements in the design and implementation of equipment and systems;
• Complying to an integrated Risk Management system in designing and operating of equipment and systems
• Design and implement operations solutions with the rest of the management team
• Speedy & effective handling of engineering solutions in the plant as they arise
• Achievement of agreed performance parameters within approved Capital Projects Setting of targets and Management of project budgets
• Projects to be well planned on MS Project and completed on time
• Negotiation with Suppliers on quotations/tenders

Minimum Requirements:

• An Engineering and Business qualification
• A minimum of (10) years’ experience in production and/or projects in FMCG environment
• In-depth knowledge and experience of dairy plants and equipment will be to your advantage
• Very proficient in various control software and control systems (PLC’s and SCADA)
• Computer literacy (Project Management and MS Projects)
• Previous experience in product development and design initiatives
• Proven track record of successful Management of projects
