Project Engineer - Midrand, South Africa - International travel required on occasion - Ref: 1173681

For a small, private equipment supplier focused predominantly on the Gold recovery unit processes: Gold Leaching, Carbon Adsorption and Elution; none of the bureaucracy or micro-management of a corporate company.
Are you self-motivated and driven, requiring with very little supervision, and enjoy working under pressure, independently and in a team?

Run the full equipment delivery project lifecycle from the tender/marketing process in terms of design, costing, documentation; verifying scope of work; checking of drawings, expediting the manufacturing and assembly of equipment on suppliers; commercial issues relating to contracts and commissioning to ensuring that the client after sales service levels are maintained/improved, and on occasion be required to perform an after sale service and visiting existing operations.
A minimum of 5 years’ work experience in project management and exposure to the manufacturing environment would be advantageous.
Position details:
The Project Engineer will form part of the Project Department and report to the Management role pertaining to the Project Department.
The primary function of the Project Engineer would be:
Verify scope of work and ensure full scope is provided to client.
Involve themselves in the checking of drawings.
Place all orders associated with the manufacturing and assembly of equipment on suppliers.
Establish and monitor manufacturing timelines to ensure completion of projects on time.
Ensure quality of equipment produced remains high.
Communication with clients to ensure contractual compliance.
Manage all commercial issues relating to contracts, i.e. costing, contract cash-flows and client invoicing.
Responsible for the commissioning of equipment built if required.
Foster a professional working relationship with the financial and marketing departments.
Be involved in the tender/marketing process of the equipment in terms of design, costing, documentation and correspondence required by the Marketing Department.
Become actively involved in ensuring that the client after sales service levels are maintained/ improved.
On occasion the Project Engineer will be required to perform an after sale service in which existing operations will be required to be visited.

Job Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
A formal tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution.
Other engineering disciplines such as Electrical Engineering will be considered for this position however, you will need to commit to obtaining an overall Mechanical understanding.
A minimum of 5 years’ work experience in project management is required. Exposure to the manufacturing environment would be an added advantage.
An advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office is essential. Working knowledge in AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor and MS Projects would be preferable but not essential.
The ability to work productively under pressure is an essential component and key result area of this position.
Self-driven and possess the ability to operate independently. Demonstrate a willingness to develop your own knowledge base as the requirements of the position develop.
Be prepared to work as part of a team and be prepared to contribute to the development of other employees by sharing of knowledge within the company.
Must have good interpersonal skills as interacting, establishing and maintaining very good client relations at all levels is an essential component and key result area of this position.
Possess good time management skills as the meeting of client defined deadlines is an imperative key result area.
A significant portion of manufactured equipment is exported. The role may require international travel for either commissioning or aftermarket support.
Amenable to International travel and must be in possession of a valid passport.
