Position: Project Engineer / Mechanical Engineer
Location: Port Elizabeth
Salary: Depending on Experience and Qualifications

The role of the Project Engineer is to steer the project within budget as well as timing constraints, and ensure mechanical quality and performance to customer’s satisfaction.

Requirements:

Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering

Duties:

• Plan and run project kick-off showing scope of work, timing and costing

• Prepare costing and raising RFQ’s with suppliers for bought out items.

• Set up meetings with key role players for final costing and approval.

• Develop and maintain project timing plan.

• Acquire SC’s and CC’s from customers for critical dimensions.

• Acquire latest level drawings and CAD from customers.

• Plan and run APQP meetings with relevant role players.

• Compile all working documents and update project file.

• Ensure that all technical process documentation and operational instructions have been drawn up, verified and issued to production.

• Ensure project control is maintained in-line with company, customer and TS16949 procedures.

• Handle all correspondence between suppliers, customer and internally.

• Compile PPAP documentation

• Monitor weekly progress of project made in terms of:

o Actual progress made with original timing plan

o Project spend vs project budget

o Report on any deviation from original scope, timing and costing

• Communicate progress made to Key role players

• Maintain filing system

• Ensure project file is continuously updated (print out electronic documentation and correspondence)

• Ensure internal and external PSW’s are signed and filed before closing project.

• Report feedback on project status to plant manager

• Liaise with customer on project timing

• Ensure internal project management processes are conformed to

Process Engineering:

• Update documentation

• Implement corrective actions as and when required.

• Ensure that all technical process documentation and operation instructions have been drawn up, verified and issued to production.
