The risk management team is responsible for the overall risk rating for Employee Benefit Risk scheme. Both new and renewal business, across South Africa and other African businesses.

The prospective candidate should ideally have a thorough understanding of Group Risk business for different products for South Africa and the rest of Africa across both Life and Short-Term licenses.

This includes understanding of Systems, Processes and Procedures.

Liaise with all internal and external stakeholders as defined per risk specialist.

Holistic overview of Employee Benefit Risk Business with specific emphasis on sales, quotes, and operations.

A key part of the job will be profitable client retention focussed on growing the Group Risk business.

Management of existing risk book through re-rating of existing schemes
Vulnerable schemes management (existing business)
Pricing and benefit design of large/complex new business opportunities (special partners)
Negotiation with clients, reinsurers, brokers, sales team on all aspects linked to Group Risk Business
Liaise with quotes team to ensure delivery of quotations
Attend meetings with various stakeholders as required
Assist with the audit of agreements and treaties, systems and processes
Ensure effective communication between all stakeholders with a view to building and maintaining good stakeholder relationships
Ensure accurate and timeous provision of information
Staff and internal stakeholder training and development
Implementation of strategic projects and business acquisitions
Tracking outcomes of strategic initiatives and refining process (actuarial control cycle)
Resolve escalated technical queries and complaints
Quality control of output
Responsible for ongoing technical development and ongoing maintenance of the quotation system in line with Group Risk IT strategy including reinsurance treaty changes
We are looking to fill a senior pricing analyst role with focus on profit management on our existing scheme portfolio. This is focused on our large schemes. Market exposure and experience is essential to be able to appropriately fill the role.

Interact at a senior level and engage with both external brokers, clients and internal business managers. The need for extensive market knowledge and experience is extremely important as the individual will be exposed to sensitive discussions and engagements that can get very tricky at times so they need to have the knowledge and ability to manoeuvre around this while still making sure the clients we are dealing with are protected.
A key part of the job will be profitable client retention focussed on growing the GR business.
Market insight and requisite business understanding

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills

Preferable Tertiary qualification (mathematical, statistical or actuarial)
At least 5 years Group Risk experience in a senior technical role
Or actuarial student who would be interested to pursue a career in the group risk pricing space, with the CT exams
Extensive market exposure, knowledge and experience is essential to be able to appropriately fill the role
Strong understanding of the group risk industry
