Sovereign Foods is a national supplier of quality chicken products to various markets and has operations in the Eastern Cape and Gauteng Provinces. The Commercial Division is looking for an individual to assume the responsibilities of Risk Manager. The successful incumbent will report directly to the Commercial Production Manager. The Risk Manager will be responsible for identifying risks, developing and implementing risk mitigation strategies and monitoring outcomes. The successful candidate must be in possession of a Health and Safety Management National Diploma/ Security Management or relevant qualification and 8-10 years’ within the FMCG sector. A minimum of 5 years’ experience managing a team is essential.

Results Required:

• Implement the strategy for improving safety performance by developing and implementing HSE policies, plans, programs, and systems to meet organizational objectives
• Undertake annual safety audits and coordinate annual third party audits.
• Manage Security, security intel, investigations, reporting, accident reporting and emergency response
• Control operational budget for the department
• Conduct work place occupational environmental assessments
• Developing team and managing talent within the risk department.
• Monitor and continually improve policies and procedures to ensure they are effective and compliant to corporate requirements as well as legislative requirements
• Ensure implementation of effective and efficient occupational health, safety and environmental management system (NOSA 5 star accreditation retention)
• Formulate and maintain strong relationship with quality department
