Robben Island, Cape Town: BUS DRIVER
Duration: 5 MONTHS CONTRACT
Job Purpose: Transporting passengers over various locations around Robben Island World Heritage site
Minimum Requirements:
-Grade 10-12
-Valid driver’s License (Code EC1, or EC) with valid PDP A MUST
-Basic first aid and driving courses completed preferred
-Minimum 3 years’ recent driving experience on heavy vehicles, preferably passenger busses A MUST
-Knowledge of road safety rules and regulations
-Accident free driving record with no restraints
-Reliable and punctual
-Good knowledge of Cape Town area
-Stable employment record (No unreasonable gaps in employment record, CV must indicate FULL EMPLOYMENT RECORD and employment dates)
-Must reside near Cape Town
-Contactable References
-To start immediately / as soon as possible
Duties:
-Transporting passengers over various locations around Robben Island World Heritage site
-Operate assigned vehicle in a safe, reliable, and professional manner while being courteous, patient, and helpful to all passengers.
-Transporting passengers on a pre-planned route according to a definite time schedule
-Assume responsibility for the safety of the passengers embarking and disembarking the vehicle
-Instructing the passengers in vehicle safety practices
-Regulating Air-conditioning in the vehicle for comfort of passengers
-Driving in compliance with National Roads Traffic Acts and regulations
-Conducting daily vehicle pre-trip inspections; water, fuel, oil and mechanical condition before operations
-Keeping operational records, writing reports and completes forms as required, may prepare detailed written reports concerning delays, accidents, incidents, breakdowns and mechanical defects, as required by the Transport Manager
-Adhering to maintenance schedules instructions
-Assist passengers, such as elderly or disabled individuals, on and off the vehicle and ensuring that they are seated properly
-Keeping passengers informed of all developments that may affect their trip, such as likely delays
-Attend training classes with successful completion; answer passenger questions politely and accurately, to include questions about the service area
-Check wheel ramps all the time to help disabled customers as and when required
Salary: Negotiable depending on experience (Market related)
