JOB CONTEXT:
The Safety Fire Protection Security Unit Head is responsible for administering established security in NITI premises, fire protection/prevention, and loss prevention due to any hazard. Assists the HR & Administration Services Director with internal and external disasters and safety issues as needed.


Basic Job Requirements & Accountabilities:
Description
Prepares a structure and procedure for Fire Prevention, site Safety issues of the common areas as well as overall safety & security of the NITI premises.
Responsible for conducting site reviews, writing audit/review reports, reviewing findings, and making recommendations for improvement of security and safety measures.
Conducts regular Evacuation Programs (fire / bomb hoax/ earthquake/ medical emergency) for all on site with a focus on various teams on the NITI campus.
Set s up the Security Control Room with all systems and processes such as cameras and CCTV’s wherever appropriate. Also proactively liaise with the local authorities to monitor possible threats and implement preventive measures to ensure safety to all on the NITI campus.
Set up a comprehensive review / monitoring procedure to address fire and safety issues of the NITI campus. The procedure is to compile hard and soft copy reports to be actioned and filed / stored on a daily basis
Conducts regular training on Fire Prevention and Protection with practical fire drill and maintain its record. Also conducts Building Evacuation Drill as per required norms and maintain its record.
Trains shift facility teams & security staff on basic first-aid & evacuation in case of a medical emergency. Develops training materials and conducts training sessions on fire protection.
Provides a comprehensive material movement process at site and ensures that all material movement is adequately recorded. No material should leave the site without the approved gate pass even if it is vendor material.
Monitors and evaluates unit performance on key security issues and programs, recommends corrective action programs here as appropriate.

Responsible for providing leadership, advice and counsel to management on security policy and practices. Identifies exposures and to recommend and develop corrective plans as appropriate.

Assists the Finance team in preparation of daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly & annual maintenance schedules for Automatic Fire Detection & Alarm system, PA system, Fire Fighting Equipment (Portable Fire extinguishers, Fire Hydrants & Sprinklers systems, any other Fire suppression systems or equipment that will impact the Health & safety of human life or equipment at site)
Provides leadership, advice and counsel to all security staff in achieving current and long range strategic program objectives.
Sets goals and objectives for the staff of security and safety department , monitors the work schedules of the unit and evaluates their performance and leads by example.
Develops and implements security/safety improvements that benefit NITI’s assets, visitors and employees. Assists in conducting investigations of significant threats and/or loss or misappropriation of assets.
Arranges all the shifts, weekly offs, and leaves, etc. for concerned security and fire staff.
Prepare and write reports detailing specific fire prevention and protection issues such as work performed and proposed review schedules.
Performs other related duties as required by the HR & Administration Services Director

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
Possession of a bachelor’s degree in safety or industrial engineering or equivalent
Ten years of experience in coordinating security and/or fire protection activities

Knowledge of Principles and practices of evaluating and implementing a comprehensive safety program
Demonstrated knowledge of security operations, workplace health and safety issues
Knowledge of application of statistical methods to management analysis including industrial safety practices; methods of assessing safety hazards and controls; techniques for conducting accident investigations and safety inspections
Behavioral
