WHAT IS THE PRIMARY PURPOSE OF YOUR JOB?

To create an environment that is conducive to Tiger Brands continuous improvement in the fields of Health, Safety, Security and Environmental compliance, enabling Tiger Brands to achieve it’s objectives in the above mentioned fields of legal compliance and social responsibility.
Candidate will implement and maintain the international safety and environmental management systems and ensure the site adherence to all SHE related legislation.
Candidate will facilitate the identification of site risks with the HOD’s and lead the documentation of the risk assessment matrices .
The SSE Officer is required to drive capability building for SHE at the site with the support of the SC Academy and HRD Personnel.
He / She is the custodian of safe working practices.
The candidate will ensure that all work is carried out according to SHE policies, standards and procedures by implementing a behavioural based safety program on site.
They are further required to supply SHE guidance and support to the site and monitor compliance through the facilitation of SHE incident investigations being conducted and following-up on actions completed.
Root cause analysis tools will be utilized for identify and implementing preventative actions for SHE incidents.

WHAT ARE THE KEY OUTPUTS OF YOUR JOB? (WHAT RESULTS DO YOU LEAVE BEHIND?

1.The design and updating of a Health and Safety system leading to uniformed standards within all sites ensuring legal compliance to the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Corporate Governance standards as per King III Report.
2.The design and updating of an Environmental compliance system leading to uniformed standards within the sites ensuring legal compliance to all South African Environmental National Legislation, Provincial Legislation and Municipal ordinances.
3.Ensuring compliance to the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations and promulgated codes and standards.
4.Legal Compliance with South African Environmental Legislation.
5.Reporting to Management on Risk Matters
6.{MARSH}(Planning of Risk Audits and Risk Profiles for all Sites, Meetings, Special Investigations, Insurance meetings, Evaluating Insurance standards)
7.Accident Investigation and Workman’s Compensation Commissioner Support.
8.Creating a National Health, Safety and Environmental Database for all Tiger Brands Sites.
9.Ensure that the Utilities Risk Project is completed at all Sites and maintained
10.Design of Health, Safety and Environmental Training Manuals and Guidance notes
11.Risk Management
12.Incident Investigations

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
National Higher Diploma Environmental Health.
Qualification in Legal aspects of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, 85 of 1993.
Minimum of 8 Years Risk Management experience in the Food/Beverage industry.
